July 15 – El Salvador guaranteed their qualification for the knock out rounds of the Gold Cup with a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago in Frisco, Texas. It left Mexcio needing a win in the later game against in Guatemala in Dallas to keep them in the running to top the group.

July 15 – Houston’s BBVA stadium will host the first sell out crowd of the Concacaf Gold Cup 2021 this Saturday (July 17) for the Group D doubleheader of Honduras vs Panama and Grenada vs Qatar.

Canal+ reconfirms intent to switch off French league deal over Amazon row

July 14 – Has a separation between France’s LFP and its traditional anchor broadcaster Canal+ become inevitable? With Ligue 1 kicking off the first weekend of August, the broadcaster has renewed its request to terminate its contract with the league, confirming its position after Amazon won broadcast rights for the first time in June.

July 14 – With its reputation already shattered, England face being handed a stadium ban after an investigation was opened by UEFA into the disgraceful scenes at Wembley ahead of the Euro 2020 final, and the English Football Association charged over fans booing “during the (Italian) national anthem” and “lighting of a firework”.

July 13 – Group D opened with a storm in Houston tonight. Torrential rain and severe weather warnings delayed the start of the Panama vs Qatar game by an hour with fans ordered to stay on the stadium concourses or in their cars until the storm had passed through.
