New regime, same result: Aussie women beat Argentina to Nations Cup

March 8 – Australia’s women’s team won the inaugural Nations Cup on home soil with a 3-0 win against Argentina. The win was welcome news for the Matildas in the lead up to the World Cup after the recent sacking of coach Alen Stajcic.

FIFA Council recommended to approve VAR for France 2019 Women’s World Cup

March 5 – The FIFA panel overseeing preparations for the Women’s World Cup on Monday has recommended the use of the video review technology to help referees at the finals in France this summer, paving the way for the FIFA Council to ratify VAR next week.

March 4 – FIFA president Gianni Infantino has hinted at a potential joint Korean bid for the 2023 Women’s World Cup.  Australia, Japan, South Africa and New Zealand have already expressed their interest in hosting the tournament.
