May 21 – On the eve of Gianni Infantino welcoming FIFA’s global membership to today’s annual congress, the Special Prosecutor who was investigating his infamous secret meetings with the former Swiss attorney general formally quit.
May 21 – The fight against racist abuse on social media has resulted in eight men being arrested after an unnamed Tottenham Hotspur player was racially abused on Twitter. Four other men were interviewed by police under caution.
May 19 – Karim Benzema’s exile from the French national team over a sex-tape scandal is at an end. In a surprise move Didier Deschamps has recalled the Madrid striker for Les Bleus’ Euro 2020 squad.

May 14 – In a move that could potentially have seismic consequences, a Spanish court has referred opposition to the ill-fated European Super League by FIFA and UEFA to the European Court of Justice.
May 12 – Following human rights protests by international players from Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Norway and letters from the Danish and Norwegian FA’s FIFA and World Cup 2022 organisers Qatar have begun a series of meetings with member associations.
May 12 – Time appears to have caught up with German football chief Fritz Keller who has offered to step down after sparking a wave of criticism for comparing his colleague to a notorious Nazi judge.
May 11 – Global sports integrity group SIGA, is holding the second of its latest ‘No such thing as a crisis’ webinar series tomorrow (May 12) focussing on the collapse of the European Super League and how this should trigger governance reforms.

May 6 – Real Madrid have lost a Spanish court case against LaLiga which challenged the legal right of the league to promote and sell its commercial and broadcast inventory.

May 5 – FIFA President Gianni Infantino has won what he hopes will be the first step towards a more significant victory in his battle to quash the Swiss federal criminal investigation into his conduct.
May 5 – In the wake of the European Super League (ESL) protests, Chelsea have become the first of the English breakaway clubs to introduce fan representation at board meetings.
May 4 – The English Premier League has taken action to prevent its clubs threatening to break away again and join any future European Super League.
The 2021 Gold Cup is heading to Las Vegas, the self-proclaimed entertainment capital of the world, in what will be a debut for major event soccer in the city and in one of the shiniest and newest stadium facilities in the US.
Located adjacent to the world-famous Las Vegas Strip, Allegiant Stadium is a 65,000 capacity venue that began construction in November 2017 and was completed at a cost of $1.9 billion in July 2020.
