March 8 marks International Women’s Day – a day of global celebration of women’s social, economic, political and cultural achievements. It offers an important reminder of the significant and leading contribution of women in these areas and of course to all facets of society more generally.
February 29 – Germany claimed Europe’s last ticket to the Olympic women’s football tournament with a 2-0 victory against the Netherlands in the third-place playoff of the Nations League. In Asia, Australia and Japan clinched their spots for Paris.
February 20 – New Zealand have booked their ticket for the Olympic Women’s Football tournament after thrashing Solomon Islands 11-1 in the Oceania qualifying final.

April 25 – Four contenders are competing to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, days after the joint United States-Mexico entered the race.
March 27 – You’ve got mail. With those words, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany launched their bid for the hosting of the 2027 World Women’s Cup.
March 24 – FIFA has released first details of the bidding process for the hosting of the 2027 Women’s World Cup with the deadline for expressions of interest set for April 23. The final vote on hosts will be made at the FIFA Congress on 17 May 2024, leaving the hosts three years to organise the event.
February 22 – Two of the three outstanding qualification slots for the Women’s World Cup 2023 have been filled with Haiti beating Chile 2-1 to make history and qualify for their first women’s World Cup and Portugal also set to make their WWC debut after beating Cameroon 2-1.
December 20 – The FIFA World Cup will be in the US in 2026, but the Homeless World Cup will get there before it, with Sacramento in California hosting the event in July 2023.

July 28 – The women’s final will for the first time conclude the Olympic football tournament in Paris in 2024, FIFA revealed on Thursday, along with further details of the competition’s match schedule.
July 5 – New Zealand has been chosen to host the first ever women’s World Cup Play-off tournament, taking place in the cities of Hamilton and Auckland between February 17-23 next year.
April 27 – FIFA has issued an invitation to tender (ITT) for the sale of media rights to the 2023 Women’s World Cup 2023 in selected territories across Asia.
