Garber says MLS is facing $1bn in lost revenue as new season targeted for March start

December 9 – Major League Soccer’s 25th season has not turned into the celebration initially hoped for, with commissioner Don Garber in his State of the League address revealing that the MLS is expecting a $1 billion drop in revenue because of the coronavirus pandemic.

NWSL retains Challenge Cup competition as opener for 2021 regular season

November 19 – The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the US is to continue with its Challenge Cup format introduced for the first time as a back-to-play tournament in 2020, the first of the US leagues to return to competition during the pandemic. The full season schedule will be begin a month later.

October 21 – Concacaf, in the throes of starting its club competitions, has had to postpone one of the first matches of its second club competition, the Concacaf League, after four players and four staff from Belize’s Verdes FC tested positive for covid.

Trinidad court rules against FIFA and hands control of suspended TTFA back to Wallace and crew

October 14 – A Trinidad and Tobago court has ruled that FIFA’s replacement of the board of the Trinidad and Tobago FA by a Normalisation Committee in March was illegal and that FIFA’s statutes are inconsistent with local law that formed the TTFA in 1982.
