March 15 – As African football awaits its most far-reaching election in three decades, outright war has broken out between the two rival camps with the self-styled campaign manager for the sole challenger to Issa Hayatou’s previously untouchable throne facing disciplinary action.

March 15 – Twenty-fours before the most hotly anticipated election in African football history, Nigerian authorities have denied they have ordered their highly influential FA to vote for Issa Hayatou as he bids to cling on to power for another four-year term.

March 14 – Liberian FA (LFA) president Musa Bility appeared to admit on Liberian radio at the weekend that in 2015 he took $50,000 from FIFA meant to go towards humanitarian aid during the Ebola crisis. The money was distributed to his own executive committee members while he retained $35,000. Bility is accused of multiple acts of corruption by a former LFA executive committee member and other stakeholders in Liberian football.

March 13 – The final week of the African Football Confederation (CAF)’s Presidential election campaign is off to an explosive start, with CAF obliged to rebut what it says are unsubstantiated charges and allegations that have led to Issa Hayatou being referred to the Egyptian Economic Court within days of Thursday’s vote pitting him against challenger Ahmad Ahmad.

March 10 – The whistleblower who informed FIFA of corruption within the Liberian Football Association (LFA) has been accused by LFA president Musa Bility of encouraging Sierra Leone president Isha Johansson to pay a bribe to her own executive committee members to win their support.
March 9 – Senegal’s FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura her assured her neutrality ahead of next week’s presidential election of the African Confederation (CAF), when Ahmad Ahmad will try to dislodge Issa Hayatou.

March 7 – Danny Jordaan (pictured), the public face of the 2010 South Africa World Cup, has dramatically pulled out of the race to gain a place on FIFA’s ruling Council, plunging this month’s African regional elections into chaos and confusion.

March 6 – Djibouti is the latest country to come out publicly and say it is supporting the challenger Ahmad Ahmad (pictured) in the forthcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) presidential election in a move that appears to go against the official stance of the Council for East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) whose members are officially backing Issa Hayatou.
March 6 – Former Zambian FA president Kalusha Bwalya has withdrawn from the race for a place on the FIFA Council – less than two weeks before elections for African representatives.
March 3 – The sensitivity within individual federations over this month’s Confederation of African Football presidency has been further underlined with Sierra Leone Football Association President Isha Johansen ordering an immediate enquiry into media reports credited to her Director of Competitions Sorey Ibrahim Sesay that she would not be voting for Madagascan challenger Ahmad Ahmad.

March 1 – Controversial Liberian FA president Musa Bility (pictured), excluded from the FIFA presidential race after failing integrity tests, is being accused by a former Liberian FA executive committee member of misappropriating FIFA financial assistance money of more than $1 million. Amongst a raft of claims of financial embezzlement, he is also accused of taking $50,000 of Ebola relief money sent to the Liberian FA and sharing it between committee members.
