Jashari to set Belgian transfer record with move to AC Milan

August 6 – Ardon Jashari will move from Club Brugge to AC Milan in a €36 million transfer, a record in Belgian football.

After months of negotiations, the two clubs have reached an agreement, according to Belgian media with Brugge receiving €36 million and a potential €3 million in bonuses for the Swiss midfielder who took the Belgian league and the Champions League by storm last season.

Club Brugge signed the 23-year-old for €6 million from Swiss club Lucerne in 2024. He will rank as the most expensive outgoing transfer in Belgian football ahead of Igor Thiago, sold by Brugge to Brentford for €37 million, and Charles De Ketelaere, who moved for €35 million, bonuses included, to Milan.

Jashari was ever-present in the Belgian league season, claiming both the award of the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year at the Pro League Awards. After Brugge’s 3‑1 victory against crosstown rivals Cercle Brugge, Jashari fetched a blue‑and‑black flag from the stands and tried to plant it at the centre circle, sparking a heated confrontation and mass pitch brawl with Cercle players.

He enjoyed breakthrough performances against both Atalanta and Milan in the Champions League, combining a high work rate with a good vision and slick passing. He was a key figure in Brugge’s run to the round of 16. The Belgian club progressed as the 24th and last team from the group stages and eliminated Atalanta from the playoffs before falling to Aston Villa 6-1 on aggregate.

Jashari has been omitted from Brugge’s squad for the Champions League qualifier against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday, when he arrived for his medical in northern Italy.
