August 5 – Kosovo’s KF Llapi have begun the renovation of the Zahir Pajaziti Stadium in Podujevë for in a €1.9million project funded by the Kosovan government.
The project includes the construction of a completely new stand and roofing over all seats, as well as the installation of lighting. After the reconstruction is complete, it’s hoped the stadium – a 3,000 seater – will receive UEFA Category 3 status.
In a statment, the club said: “KF Llapi is pleased to announce that at the meeting held today, the Government of Kosovo has approved the decision to finance the renovation project of the Zahir Pajaziti Stadium in Podujevë.
“The long-awaited project involves the construction of a new eastern stand, covering all stands and installing field lighting in accordance with UEFA Category 3 standards.
“This investment will create modern conditions for the development of matches in the evenings and will influence the increase in the number of our fans in the stadium.
“We thank Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Minister Hajrulla Ceku and the Government of Kosovo for this support for football as the main sport in our city.
“Last, but not least, on behalf of the club leadership, we thank the Mayor of Podujeva Municipality, Mr. Speed Bulliqi, and the leadership staff for the readiness and perseverance shown in delivering the project – a key step towards its approval today by the Government of Kosovo.
“This project motivates us even more to continue with a strong organisation and a consolidated team at the country level.”
