Man Utd to paint Niagara Falls red

July 21 – Manchester United are about to turn one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders into their personal billboard, with Niagara Falls set to be bathed in Old Trafford red as part of a jaw-dropping fan activation.

The Theatre of Dreams is taking its show on the road in spectacular fashion, with all three waterfalls spanning the U.S.-Canada border getting the full United treatment on Wednesday, July 23 at 22:00 CET. If the light show wasn’t enough, they’ll be some coordinated fireworks for good measure, and you’ve got the kind of statement piece that makes other clubs’ pre-season friendlies look a little underwhelming.

The activation comes courtesy of a partnership with the Niagara Parks Commission and the local Manchester United supporters’ club.

This is just the beginning of United’s North American charm offensive with this natural light show serving as the opening salvo in their Premier League Summer Series campaign. New Jersey, Chicago, and Atlanta are all getting the red-carpet treatment as part of a coordinated assault on American hearts and wallets.

“It will be a unique occasion where two forces of nature combine,” declared Rick McGagh, United’s Director of Fan Engagement.

McGagh added: “Engaging fans in authentic ways that connect to their local communities is central to our approach” – which sounds suspiciously like what every club in the recently played Fifa Club World Cup tried to achieve.

The cross-border spectacle has also managed to unite Canadian and American officials. Tony Baldinelli, Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls, and Mayor Jim Diodati are both singing United’s praises, no doubt seeing dollar signs and tourism boosts ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Former United defender Wes Brown will be on hand to witness the proceedings and presumably throw the switch.

With fans streaming in from Toronto, Buffalo, and Rochester, United are proving that when it comes to making a splash in foreign markets, nobody does it quite like the Red Devils.
