Bulgarian football unites through historic beach soccer cooperation agreement

June 24 – Three of Bulgarian football’s institutions – the Bulgarian Football Union (BFS), Bulgarian Amateur Football League (AFL) and Beach Soccer Bulgaria (BSB) – have reached a cooperation agreement to promote the sport of Beach Soccer in the country.

The partnership aims to bring together the three entities to form the Bulgarian National Beach Soccer League. BFS CEO Andrey Petrov, AFL President Rumyan Valkov and BSB CEO Ivan Kirilov signed the cooperation agreement for their respective bodies.

Within the framework of the agreement, the parties agreed to implement long-term and effective cooperation in organising events, official championships, and tournaments. Coordinated actions will be carried out with local government bodies and administrators.

At the same time, training, conferences, seminars, round tables and other public and private events will be organised for coaches, administrators, referees, hosts and other figures of Beach Soccer in the country and abroad.

In addition various media and public actions, marketing campaigns and communication strategies will be implemented to popularise the game.

“The Bulgarian Football Union supports the development of all forms of the game, including beach soccer, which carries enormous potential for popularising football culture in our country,” said Petrov.

“With this agreement, we are giving a clear signal that the BFS stands behind a sustainable and professionally administered National Beach Soccer League.”

“AFL has always been a driving force in supporting alternative formats of football,” added Valkov. “Beach soccer is dynamic, spectacular and close to people – completely in the spirit of amateur sport. I am glad that together we will be able to build on what has been achieved and give new energy to this discipline.”

“This partnership is a big step for the future of beach soccer in Bulgaria,” concluded Kirilov. “We thank the BFS and AFL for their trust and support. We are convinced that with joint efforts we will build a stable and attractive national league that will inspire a new generation of players and fans.”
