Montenegrans break ground on construction of Bijelo Polje training complex

May 9 – The President of the Football Federation of Montenegro (FSCG), Dejan Savićević, broke ground officially on the construction of a new training complex in Bijelo Polje.

The camp will include two pitches – one with a natural surface and one with an artificial surface – a facility with changing rooms for teams and officials, a clinic, a gym, additional rooms, and stands for spectators. The €3.3 million investment will be jointly financed by the Football Association of Montenegro and the Municipality of Bijelo Polje.

The ceremony was also attended by The President of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović and the President of FK Jedinstvo, Nermin Bećirović. The training complex should be complete in eight months.

“The vision of prosperity and development of the football community in the north of Montenegro, nurtured by the Football Association, has been recognized by the Municipality of Bijelo Polje and the Football Club Jedinstvo, so this project is the fruit of a joint effort to ensure that boys and girls in the city on the Lim River receive the best possible conditions for training and playing matches,” said Savićević .

“The Football Association is proud to contribute to the implementation of this project, which, like many other projects implemented throughout our country, will be dedicated to creating new generations who will play for local clubs and national teams. The modern camp that will be built on this site will offer all the necessary conditions for the development, training and improvement of young players and will provide an opportunity for them to develop their talents in the best possible conditions.”

The president of FK Jedinstvo, Nermin Bećirović, believes that the laying of the foundation stone is not the beginning of a construction phase, but the beginning of a new era for the club he leads, as well as all other clubs from Bijelo Polje.

“This is not just the beginning of a construction phase – this is the beginning of a new era for the Jedinstvo Football Club and all sports football teams of Bijelo Polje. Today we are laying the foundation stone for something much bigger than the field, locker rooms and stands – we are laying the foundation for the dreams of young athletes, for the growth of new generations of talents and for the future of Montenegrin football. Something that many generations before us dreamed of, and which was the main promise of the new management of the club, which I am at the helm of, which in 2017 bravely and decisively stepped into total uncertainty and the unknown in every sense, is slowly becoming a reality today,” said Bećirović.
